It is our hope that those responsible be brought to justice, hopefully before an International Criminal Court on the charge of crimes against humanity, as people of many ethnicities and nationalities suffered losses.

We, along with the rest of the world, mourn the senseless loss of innocent civilian life due to terrorism. At this time let us not forget those around the world who have had similar experiences, so that we can truly empathize and bond on our shared human experience on this planet.

We also are appalled and disgusted that in the midst of cooperation during this unexpected crisis, that there are those who would attack and even kill individuals of Arab descent, or those of any nationality or ethnicity who practice Islam as a way of life and spirituality, blindly allowing racism, hatred and intolerance to make a target of fellow human beings.

And for what? It's obvious that those who have been attacked thus far had absolutely nothing to do with the attack on the World Trade Center. The danger of discrimination on the basis of religious belief and spiritual practice, especially when done in ignorance, is that an individual of any ethinicity and nationality could be a practicioner.

Not all Arabs are Muslim, and not all Muslims are Arabs. This is clear to any student of world history and geography.

It would be entirely possible to engage in an act of violence against one group of devotees, or believers, and smile in the faces of their 'spiritual brothers and sisters' in the next moment, for outside of one's declaration of their spiritual practice, or outward demonstration or expression of their culture, there's no reliable way to determine who's practicing what as a way of life.
